Upgrades to Veterans Park continue this week

Upgrades to Veterans Park continue this week. When the project is complete in late Spring, visitors to our flagship park will see a new gazebo, new concrete and paved walkways, ADA compliant ramps and picnic tables, a new pedestrian bridge, new sod and mulch and handicapped accessible parking.

Hazlet Recreation's Annual Easter Egg Hunt Set for April 7

Hazlet Recreation's annual Easter egg hunt will take place on Saturday, April 7th, beginning at 12 noon at the Veterans Park Ballfield. It will be for ages 3 to 10 and participants are asked to bring a basket or bag to collect eggs. All children will receive a gift and special eggs will be awarded larger prizes in appropriate age catagories. At 1:30pm there will be a free Mad Science show in the Cullen Center for all ages. Please note that participants must park in the Union Ave. lot, there will be no access from the Veterans Park lot.
 

Free Eye Screening Clinic - Ages 3 and Up

The N.J. Commission for the Blind & Visually Impaired, along with the Monmouth County Health Department will be sponsoring a free eye screening clinic for ages 3 and up on April 24, 2012 between the hours of 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Hazlet Township Municipal Building, 1766 Union Avenue, Hazlet, NJ.

Hazlet Township Police Department Is Seeking Volunteers for Domestic Violence Response Team

The Hazlet Township Police Department is currently recruiting volunteers to serve on the Bayshore Regional Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT). In affiliation with 180 Turning Lives Around (180), and with the assistance of the response team volunteers, the Hazlet Township Police Department continues to make available this service to victims of domestic violence. Applications are available now and interviews will begin shortly.

As a community organization, the Hazlet Alliance is extremely concerned about the recent deaths of several of our Hazlet residents. The Alliance is currently working with the Hazlet school district to create proactive strategies and resources for our whole community esp. including our young, at-risk adults.

Tax Collection Tidbits

The Tax Collection department began the New Year in our NEW OFFICE! We have moved next to the Tax Assessors Office which is located down the hall to the right of our old office.

First quarter 2012 taxes are due on February 1, 2012 with the ten-day grace period ending at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, February 14th.

All Homeowners who qualified for a Homestead Benefit should have received their revised February Tax Stubs. If you have a Mortgage Company escrowing for your taxes, they have also been notified of the revision to your February bill. Please save this stub! You may need it when you file your 2012 Federal Income Tax Return.
