Community Overview

Hazlet is a wonderful town of 5.6 square miles, with a little over 20,000 residents. Located about 37 miles south of Manhattan, it offers convenient rail service from the Hazlet train station on New Jersey Transit's North Jersey Coast Line.

Hazlet has so much to offer for all ages.

Our town's eight excellent public schools serve students in pre-kindergarten through twelfth grade. Sports are offered for our children through the Hazlet Youth Athletic League (HYAL). We also have the Hazlet Swim and Tennis Club open during the summer months. We offer Senior Group activities for our more mature citizens, as well as many other activities for residents of all ages throughout the year.

Hazlet is a great place to live in large part because of the many men and women who volunteer their time and talents. Our boards and committees focus on a wide variety of activities in an effort to make our town a better place to live.

In addition to these groups, Hazlet is critically reliant upon the men and women of our Emergency Services units: Police, Fire Department, and First Aid Squad, who are always on call, ready to serve. Our township employees do a fantastic job keeping Hazlet safe, clean, efficient, and a great place to live. Their dedicated service is immeasurable!
