Temporary Suspension of Meetings
For the safety of members, club meetings are suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. The township’s Cullen Center is closed to the public. An announcement will be posted when the facility reopens. Please contact club leaders for more information. You can find their contact information on this page.
Hazlet Township hosts two vibrant clubs for seniors 55 and older. They meet at the Cullen Center at Veterans Park on either Wednesdays or Fridays. Members can belong to one club, or both clubs. You do not have to be a Hazlet resident to join. The popular groups boast members from all the surrounding towns.
Friendships form easily at the club, where members get to know each other through annual events like a shared Thanksgiving meal, a patriotic Memorial Day service in Veterans Park, formal Christmas Party and festive St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Lakeside Manor, and bus trips to Atlantic City. There are vacation outings too. The 2020 calendar held plans for a trip to Niagara Falls, a Mississippi River cruise and a club favorite: The Rocking Horse Ranch Resort in Highland, New York.
A typical meeting begins at 1 p.m. with a flag salute and patriotic song. The leadership shares club news. There is a light snack, sometimes a speaker, and then bingo.
Club dues are $3 per meeting and $5 annually. Members over 90 are free! Parking is available in lots nearby. A van circulates to help any members who need a lift to the center. The building is ADA accessible.
