Transportation

Hazlet Township is located in central New Jersey in the Monmouth County Bayshore region. The Township has excellent regional transportation access, with the Garden State Parkway Exit 117 in the western section of the township. 

Two state highways also serve Hazlet as major east-west arterial roads: State Route 36 to the Jersey Shore and Sandy Hook National Park; and State Route 35. Middle Road, Hazlet Avenue, Poole Avenue, Union Avenue and other secondary arterial roads and collector roads provide access through the Township and to destinations in adjoining municipalities.

Academy runs routes along Route 35 and Route 36 to Port Authority; and from Route 36 and Garden State Parkway 116 Park & Ride to Wall Street. There is depot with ticket office and parking at Route 36 and Middle Road.

NJ Transit  Hazlet is a commuter train stop on the North Jersey Coast Line. Visit NJTransit for Train Schedules, Train Tickets, Alerts and more. There are two parking lots at the station, serviced by NJ Transit or Hazlet Township.  Train tickets can be purchased via the mobile app or at the station kiosks. 

NJ Transit has published "Your Ride to Recovery" guidelines detailing the critical steps for safest possible transit environment during the reopening of NJ and the region. The agency has also released its 10 Year Strategic Plan.

SeaStreak Ferries; NYC commuter ferry service to the New York area from Highlands and Atlantic Highlands. Also provides day trips to tourist destinations. See schedule.

SCAT Bus: The MCDOT provides public and specialized transportation services for seniors (60 and over) and permanently disabled residents of Monmouth County through direct operation and contracted service; promotes and provides supportive services for public transit services in Monmouth County.
