April 5, 2021 The full 2017 Homestead Property Tax Credit has been applied to the May 2021 tax quarter for eligible property owners and adjusted statements have been mailed.
If you sold your property after 2017 and have not contacted the State, you should reach out to your closing attorney for guidance. All credits must remain with the property and cannot be refunded to prior owners because of a sale.
About the Homestead Benefit
NJ's Homestead Benefit program provides property tax relief to eligible homeowners. For most, the benefit is distributed to your municipality in the form of a credit, which reduces the resident's property taxes an average of $255.
