Bike with a Bunny
Calling All Kids!
Hazlet Recreation will hold its third annual Bike with a Bunny event on Saturday, April 1, 2023. (Rain date Sunday, April 2.) This popular event is a fun, free group ride or walk for kids 13 and under. It begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m.
Kids are invited to follow the Bunny down Middle Road, from Airport Plaza to Veterans Park, a flat 1.7-mile-long route. Hazlet Police will be posted along the closed roadway to ensure safety.
Younger children have the option to push off from Middle Road Elementary School, 305 Middle Road, for a shorter route to Veterans Park.
Adults are welcome to push prams, strollers, wagons and wheelchairs, or ride or walk alongside children.
If a cancelation is necessary, it will be posted here.
No registration is necessary in 2023.
You Can Decorate Your Ride
Prep your stroller, wagon, bike, etc. for the parade. Decorations encouraged! (Helmets are "a must" for kids.) Check the tires!
Middle Road Closure
Middle Road will be closed to vehicular traffic from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for Bike with a Bunny, under the protection of Hazlet Police and consent from the county. Bikes will rule the road!
Kids 5 and Under (without Older Siblings)
Children under the age of 5 are invited to launch their ride from Middle Road School, 305 Middle Road. Parents may ride with children.
Children Over 6
Gather at Airport Plaza for a longer ride. Parent parking will be located in areas closest to the highway to allow Airport Plaza businesses to serve customers. Hazlet Police will be on duty to help you get into your spot. Once you do, please walk directly to the plaza's sidewalk to get out of the parking lot. It is recommended you access Airport Plaza from Route 36 East to reduce traffic knots in the parking lot.
Motorized Bikes
This is a pedal-pushing event! If you are on a motorized bike, please switch it to old school.
The Firetrucks
They will lead the way, sirens will sound. First Aid will follow the parade.
Photos with the Bunny
Upon arriving in Veterans Park, children can pose for photos with the Bunny at the gazebo.
