A curfew has been put in place Saturday, 8 p.m. through Sunday, 5 a.m.
Dear Residents,
The Hazlet Township Committee and the Hazlet Township Police Department support the interests of all residents and respect their Constitutional rights to free speech and peaceful assembly.
On Saturday afternoon, June 27, 2020, a legal and peaceful assembly is scheduled to take place in Hazlet.. This peaceful assembly has been organized by “Back the Blue” to bring awareness and support for law enforcement and first responders. It will start at the Hazlet Township Swim and Tennis Club parking lot, travel up Middle Road to the Hazlet Police building and then return to the swim club parking lot. The Hazlet Police Department is working with the organizers to ensure the event’s safety.
Recently, at a few other similar events in our county, some individuals have unfortunately engaged in non-peaceful disturbances that have endangered the health and safety of those peacefully assembled, and of bystanders and residents. To help ensure that public safety, I, as mayor, along with the Hazlet Office of Emergency Management, have issued a Curfew to be in place on Saturday at 8:00 pm to be lifted at 5:00 am on Sunday. Please read the proclamation for details.
We all want change to better our community, our state, and our nation. Change for justice with justice. Change for peace through peace.
Sincerely,
Mike Glackin
Mayor of Hazlet
