Gov. Murphy has announced that due to the uptick in COVID-19 contagion, indoor gatherings will now be limited limiting indoor gatherings to a maximum of 25 people, or 25% of capacity, whichever is less. It replaces the 100-person maximum in place since June.
The state is experiencing an increase in the RT, or rate of transmission. On Monday the rate, which indicates how many people are likely to be infected by a single person, was 1.48, roughly twice the level it was in early June.
The executive order is posted on the state website. It does not pertain to religious services, weddings, funerals, memorial services or political activities.
