Dear Hazlet residents, Earlier today I was on a conference call today with U.S. Senators Cory Booker and Bob Menendez about the need for federal stimulus to combat the economic distress caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Their message is "Help is on the way.” A $1 trillion or more Federal Relief Package is in the works and will be the largest rescue package in the history of this county. The package will include robust unemployment coverage, including coverage for the self-employed; student loan and mortgage relief; rent relief and direct payments. Businesses will have SBA relief in the forms of loans, loan forgiveness and grants. This relief package will be the first in a series of relief for this current health and economic crisis. The Federal response will also include assistance to ensure that hospitals have enough beds, ventilators, and caregivers to address this unprecedented health crisis. Please obey Governor Murphy’s stay-at-home order to ensure that we flatten out the curve to slow, and eventually halt, the spread of coronavirus. Rest assured that Hazlet is working every day with the county, state and federal government and agencies to ensure our residents are safe and their futures secure. Mayor Mike Glackin Hazlet Township
