[ARCHIVED] April 6: Letter from Hazlet Mayor Glackin

Federal stimulus, Hazlet First Aid & Rescue Squad

Dear Hazlet residents,

As we start the second week under the "stay at home" executive order there was some encouraging words from Gov. Phil Murphy during his press conference where he stated “while we are not anywhere close to being out the woods as of yet, we are clearly on the right path to get there....Our efforts to flatten the curve are starting to pay off.”

There is still more work to be done and this requires us to be vigilant in our approach. We need to continue our practice of social distancing, smart hygiene and staying home unless it is necessary. Do your part in winning this war.

The Township Committee continues to follow several of programs included in the federal stimulus package known as the CARES Act. This includes the stimulus checks.  These are direct payments that are to be made to many citizens. These payments are on the way and ALL SOCIAL SECURITY RECIPIENTS WILL GET A STIMULUS CHECK.  For further information please visit this link to a recent article on this topic.

We also continue to monitor the PPP loan program of the CARES Act, please visit our Paycheck Protection Program information page.

I urge each Hazlet household to fill out its 2020 Census form online, by phone or by mail.  The Census is important now more than ever to ensure our community receives COVID-19 federal and state relief funds, as well as funding for services, roads, nutrition and health care access and much more in the years ahead.

This is the first time in history that the Census can be completed online. It only takes 10 minutes to complete and is easy to do.

The Census Bureau’s deadline has been extended due to the COVID-19 crisis so that all Americans can be counted without risking their health and safety. Please help us.

Hazlet’s First Aid & Rescue Squad will be sending out its Annual Fund Drive donation request by mail in the coming days. Please consider making a generous donation.

Hazlet’s all volunteer First Aid & Rescue Squad relies on donations to help provide the best quality care to our residents and to have excellent equipment on hand during emergencies. This is especially crucial during the current COVID-19 crisis.

Please help our volunteers by donating, so they can help you.
