Hazlet Office of Emergency Management is tracking Tropical Storm Henri and is ready to respond.
The National Weather Service on Saturday morning said the primary hazard for much of the area is heavy rain. The highest risk is northern New Jersey, but there could be some risk across the area. Tropical storm force winds remain possible for Middlesex and Monmouth counties tonight into Sunday morning. Minor coastal flooding is possible during tonight’s high tide and may linger for Sunday evening’s high tide. There is a rough surf and high rip current risk.

The Hazlet Township Office of Emergency is currently tracking Tropical Storm Henri. Currently we are expecting some heavy rain and winds this evening through Sunday morning. There is expected to be moderate flooding of the Raritan Bay. Residents should secure any loose objects located on their property.

here are a few safety tips in case you lose power:
📌Keep freezers and refrigerators closed. The refrigerator will keep food cold for about four hours. A full freezer will keep the temperature for about 48 hours. Use coolers with ice if necessary. Monitor temperatures with a thermometer.
📌Maintain food supplies that do not require refrigeration.
📌Avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Generators, camp stoves, or charcoal grills should always be used outdoors and at least 20 feet away from windows. Never use a gas stovetop or oven to heat your home.
📌 Check on your neighbors. Older adults and young children are especially vulnerable to extreme temperatures.
📌 Go to a community location with power if heat or cold is extreme.
📌 Turn off or disconnect appliances, equipment, or electronics. Power may return with momentary “surges” or “spikes” that can cause damage.
Medical, mobility, communication or other needs:
📌 Call 911 if you are dependent on equipment that requires electricity and have an urgent need.
📌 Monitor the amount of time the electricity is out to determine whether to move medications requiring refrigeration into an alternate temperature controlled container.
