DEPARTMENT OF ADMINISTRATION- PERSONNEL OFFICER
Hazlet Township is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Personnel Officer in the Administration Department. This is a part-time position available immediately. The Township reserves the right to hire a qualified candidate before the closing date of this advertisement.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION: Bachelor’s Degree in Management, Business, or Human Resources with a preferred minimum of three (3) years of HR related experience in the public sector with working knowledge of NJ Civil Service rules. Possession of a valid NJ driver’s license may also be required.
POSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for all assigned HR related functions of the Township: · Administer all matters regarding benefits, pension, compensation management, employee recruitment, and onboarding processes.
· Responsible for maintaining, updating, and distributing personnel policies, procedures, and manuals.
· Oversee employee evaluation processes and training programs.
· Responsible for time and attendance oversight in conjunction with the Finance Department.
· Perform other administrative and municipal functions, as required.
A successful candidate must have the ability to prepare reports and correspondence. establish and maintain essential personnel records and files; provide aid in personnel matters, classifications, and related employee issues; investigate personnel complaints and employee concerns; and conduct research and studies involving personnel matters upon request for budget and contract negotiations. Must have working knowledge applying employment laws and direct experience in interviewing, developing, coaching, evaluating, and retaining employees. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office 365, Edmunds Financial system and Primepoint Payroll system are a plus. Must be available to attend Township Committee meetings upon request with the ability to interact and maintain effective relationships with local officials, other employees, and units within the Township. Assist in the preparation of resolutions regarding personnel matters. Perform other duties not listed herein.
