May Children's Events at Hazlet Library

Library May Programming

NOTE: Registration is required for all indoor programs online at, by phone, or in-person.  
Please call if you are unable to come. Face coverings for everyone above 2 years of age are recommended when attending indoor programs.

BOUNCE AND RHYME BABY STORYTIME - Ages 6 - 24 months (with parent/caregiver) 
Come join us for stories, rhymes, fingerplays, and songs! Tuesdays, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 from 10:00 - 10:30 am 

LITTLE LISTENERS TODDLER STORYTIME - Ages 2 - 4 (with parent/caregiver) 
Come join us for stories, rhymes, fingerplays, and songs! Please choose one session per week: Tuesdays, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31 from 11:00 - 11:30 am ...Thursdays, May 5, 12, 19, 26 from 11:00 - 11:30 am 

RAISING READERS BOOK CLUB - Grades K - 2 (with a parent/caregiver) 
For all our young bookworms just starting out reading on their own, join us twice a month to read a story as a group and do a corresponding activity. Thursdays, May 5 and 19 from 4:00 - 4:45 pm

READ TO THE DOGS - All ages welcome (with a parent/caregiver) 
Grab a book from our shelves or bring one from home and read to a therapy dog in the library! Thursday, May 12 from 3:00 - 4:30 pm. After registering, you will be emailed with your timeslot for reading to the dogs. Please arrive 15 minutes ahead of your timeslot to pick out a book. 

Enjoy songs, fingerplays, stories, and crafts! 

Stop in and pick up a craft project kit to make-at-home!  Find directions and reading suggestions in the Monmouth County Library’s Kids page slideshow. May 1 - 14: Spring Flower Garden AND May 15 - 31: Blast Off! 

SPRING LIBRARY SCAVENGER HUNT! - For readers of all ages! 
Grab a worksheet from now through June at your local branch library and look for books that match each clue. 
Get reading (or listening!) to finish the hunt and claim a reward!  

Peacock Surprise! - Grades K and up 
Enjoy a creative, interactive Zoom workshop honoring India’s national bird, presented by Seema Moondra of Enjoy Explore India. Discover the art and culture of India through storytelling and design your own peacock artwork!  Please have crayons, markers, pencil, and paper ready at home to complete the project. Saturday, May 21 from 10:30 - 11:30 am. Advance registration required beginning May 7.  The Zoom link will be emailed to registered participants the day before the event. Register here.

Pre-register for summer reading on Beanstack if you haven’t already created an account or on the FREE Beanstack Tracker app  starting May 15; logging begins June 1. Readers and listeners of all ages are eligible to receive deep-sea rewards!
